Try shaving your dog. Keep up on his grooming. I know that grooming a long hair dog can be a hassel, but make sure you get him shaved at least every 4 months. That and regular brushing should do the trick.

I have poodles and they get knotty especially when i let them grow their winter coa,two conditioners i find very good are alloveen and mink oil, usually once matted you do have to shave them as it is time consuming and sometimes painful to the dog to try and comb the matts.

I'd suggest you take your matted dog to the vet because it can be very painful for them to be shaved. Its probably best if the dog was put under and treated by a professonal. That is if its in your budget. It can get a little expensive for a procedure like this.

Try getting pills from your vet and taking her in to get her shaved. Thats what we have to do with our little pom.
